The new self-titled album by Bobby Valentino the native from Jackson, Mississipi has made quite an impression in the R'n'B world. Signed on by Ludacris, Bobby V has captured the new soft side of R'n'B intricately.
His album is full of soothing, sexy sounds. With his soft sound he has found a perfect balance to go along with amazing string sounds and intstruments such as pan flutes. But also with unique support singers with sensual voices, it really does capture the ears. It is considered a 'ladies' album, however, there has been a strong male following but it's been considered a 'Bedroom' album. And who would argue it? With great songs such as Slow Down, Tell me, I want you to know me, it's not hard to see why it's been given that image.
My personal favourite from this album has to be Tell Me, capturing an oriental string mix, along with a nice collection of drums and synth he's blended his rhymes almost magically. You can't help but kick back and enjoy the vibe of his album, which in itself is a great success.
As far as ranking up there with the greats, it falls slightly short, but that's not to discredit him or his album. But having followed such a rich line of R'n'B singers such as Usher, Seal, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and Pharrel.
But saying that, it's still a good album, and a great vibe maker, so if you're into the Rhythm 'n' Blues... check it out. |
