Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is UPA here?
A: UPA is designed as a place where game players of all types and experience can come together in unity to have a really great time.
We aim to provide a community, built on friendship, where competitive and casual players can join each other under one banner.
We began as a framework for pilots to meet and play games using the LucasArts titles "X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter" and "X-Wing Alliance."
We have since expanded through games such as Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, Mech Warrior 4, Crimson Skies, Counter-Strike, and others.
Our current gaming centers on WoW, Star Wars Galaxies, various recreational games, and Call of Duty 4.
Q: I have an unanswered question. Who can I ask?
First, please review this FAQ. If your question remains unanswered, the other options are as follows:
-
Members of UPA should follow the Chain of Command (CoC), as outlined in the rules document.
Contact your CO and he can escalate any issue that might need to be addressed.
-
Visitors can post a question on the general forum board or, if you have a question related to a specific game, can navigate to that game's section
and contact the Wing Commander.
Q: How can I join the UPA?
A: Joining the UPA is very simple. Navigate to the Recruiting Office and then click the "Front Desk" link.
This will begin the very simple and straightforward recruiting process.
Q: What's the Golden X-Wing Award, and when will it be voted for?
A: In the past the Golden X-Wing Award has been used for the anniversary of UPA. It decorated pilots, who have proven themselves, not only for good skills and activity,
but also for comradery, good squad-website design, etc. We will announce on the Official Message board when voting for the awards will begin.
Q: Will UPA participate in the event xyz?
A: UPA participates in several events related to SWG and WoW. There are in game raids, weekly instance events, and plain old hunting parties going on regularly.
Please visit the forums related to these games for more information. Members playing COD4 play together often, so please visit their forum for more information.
Finally, there are more regular events for the Recreational Games. Information can also be found in that event's wing and on its forum.
If there are events in which you would like to participate, please contact the Wing Commander for that game.
Q: When will the awards for the event xyz be posted?
A: Awards for events are currently in limbo, because most of the games we play are not conducive to generating the usual type of awards.
We are currently working up a solution to be able to implement this system in our club once again.
Q: Where's UPA_XYZ? Has anyone seen them lately?
A: If you are trying to contact a member, please try e-mailing them using the address in their bio or if they use AIM or XFire.
Also, you can ask the member's CO for more information.
Q: Are there any easter-eggs on this site?
A: There are a couple of hidden scripts. Here are some hints:
a) One script is called 'displaytester.asp'. Each member has one ID [Currently Down]
b) 'displaybirthdays.asp' is also available for viewing the birthdays of UPA members [Currently Down]
c) 'gamestats.asp' will show some statistics of how many people own the respective games, split into Timezones. [Currently Down]
